The series was devised in 2000 to give riders a transition middle ground from Clubracing to National BSB level. Feedback from club members who had progressed to that level was that it was a body shocked as races were longer and more intense than the usual 7 or 8 lappers they would compete at on a Saturday afternoon and fitness and bike preparation was also a key factor.
The series devoted a day of a race weekend to both timed practice to determine grid positions, usually 15 mins, and then racing, in some cases 20 lap races. Later as the series developed TV coverage was provided. A link to some of the race series over the years can be found at the bottom of the page.
Riders who have participated in the series and gone on to do well in motorcycle racing are Cal Crutchlow, the Lowes twins, Casey Stoner, Danny Buchan, Jake Dixon, Bradley Smith to name but a few.
