Silverstone
Home of the British MotoGP
The first ever motorcycle race to be held at Silverstone was on 8th October 1949, it was Hutchinson 100 organised by Bemsee.
The club had previously raced a little further down the road at Haddenham Airfield, but due to complaints about noise and Sunday races, moved to this larger and more rural location. Thus began an association with the circuit for many years.
Official Circuit history can be found HERE
However its just 4 wheels, no mention of bikes, as though they didn't exist ! Somewhat perverse as it's "the home" of British MotoGP.
So to balance our history we have included photos of our members who have been racing there since 1949
